Head of Institutional
An international asset manager had been looking via their own network for a successor to their Head of Institutional Business for a year without success. Litchfield demonstrated its access, knowledge and track record in this sector and presented a strategy for making the appointment. Our research covered the asset management and investment consulting constituencies. We presented a short list of 7 candidates within 4 weeks, the client selected 2 finalist candidates between whom they were unable to choose before a final set of meetings which produced a preferred successful candidate from an insurance specialist investment consultancy.
Head of International Insurance Solutions & Head of Insurance Client Relationships
A global asset manager with £90bn AUM retained Litchfield to help them hire these two critical roles to lead the firm's efforts in meeting their institutional clients needs in this key strategic client segment. Insurance clients accounted for over half of the firm's total assets under management. A few months into the searches the Insurance Client role headcount was frozen due to market conditions. Litchfield deftly adapted to the change and manouevred the research to cover the Buy-Side, Investment Consulting and Investment Banking.
As a result, the client was able to appoint a candidate whose career contained experience in all 3 sectors, and who was comfortably able to do both roles - solutions and client relationship management, resulting in a highly positive and cost-effective solution for the client.
GEM Equities Team Hire
A global asset manager with 340 investment professionals and assets under management of approximately US$300 billion wished to hire a fundamental, bottom up, active investment, global emerging market equities team to launch a GEMs business in London. The client required a top quartile performing team of two or more to launch the fund and business.
We developed a detailed map of GEMs funds, teams and their investment styles, that met the performance, style and process criteria.
We then created organizational charts of those teams, outlining the backgrounds of the individuals within portfolio management and research.
We reviewed the research with management to hand-select the five individuals we would pursue.
The Chief Investment Officer met with 4 potential solutions and ultimately hired a team of 2 highly experienced portfolio managers with a top quartile track record over 3 years from one of the local competitors. When the team started and the GEMs business launched, Litchfield was mandated to make additional senior global emerging market equities analyst hires.
